Whakanewha, renown for its mature coastal forest with taraire, kohekohe and old kanuka trees, cascading streams, and crescent-shaped beach with forested headlands is a veritable wonderland. Native birds call the park home including kereru, tui, fantail, silver eye and grey warbler and of course throughout the park there are amazing hiking trails, horse and mountain bike tracks. Those with little children will love the proximity to the Kauakerau bay reserve with its whimsical play park and free BBQ's at both Rocky bay and Kauakerau Bay.

If you like a bit of socialising on the weekend, head down to the world famous on Waiheke Omiha Memorial hall and enjoy delicious coffee and cake and a catch up with the locals.

This area has so much to offer - combine nature and a walk followed by a glass of wine or lunch at the outstanding Frenchman's Hill vineyard, or Thomas's Bach vineyard & cellar door,  just a half hour stroll or two-minute drive away is your first stop for what are some of the best vineyards on the island and in the world.
